This has been abandoned in favor of the new page handling with au api v2, but is still needed to log errors to web.log and to pass errors to legacy agent updater calls correctly. This error log entry is now augmented by the calling hostname (if it is provided by the calling client). With this information, it becomes easier to debug host-related errors.
