With long log lines, it can virtually render your system paralyzed. If you are not using any rewrite patterns though, you can omit leading and trailing '.*' expressions without changing the set of matched lines. mk_logwatch now detects those cases, and will optimize the patterns accordingly. To properly address issues with matching of non-ASCII characters we now require that the config files are utf-8 encoded. Configuration files that cannot be decoded will be skipped, and the corresponding service will go to {{UNKNOWN}}, displaying an appropriate message.
